Admin → Settings holds the site-wide choices in fourteen tabs. Each tab is its own form: Save keeps that tab only and brings you back to it.
The tabs are General, Content, Who may watch, Accounts, Home page, Downloads, SEO & sitemap, Speed & security, E-mail, Languages, Support, Updates, Media and Your code. Four have chapters of their own: Who may watch in Watch page, Accounts in Members, Home page in Themes and Languages in Languages. Updates shows your version and looks for a newer one (Updating).
General
- Identity: Site name, Tagline, Description (search engines read this), Keywords, Contact e-mail, Support e-mail.
- Footer: the footer line, the footer links and the "Designed & Developed by" credit, explained in Themes.
- Addresses: Clean addresses makes links read
/loginrather than/login.php. It needs the.htaccessthat ships with the script and URL rewriting on the server. Check now asks the server and says whether they work. The admin panel keeps its.phplinks either way. - Look: Brand colour, Default mode for the site, Default mode for this panel, Logo, Favicon, Default channel banner.
Content
What visitors may do: Open registration, Uploads open, Approve before publishing (a video planned for later waits for you too, when its time comes), Comments, Emoji in comments, Channel posts, and Confirm e-mail addresses (a new member cannot upload until the link in their e-mail is opened). Below them, how videos for grown-ups are checked and from which age (Watch page).
Then Videos per page and the upload sizes. Largest upload (MB) may be far larger than PHP's own upload_max_filesize, because a file goes up in pieces. Size of one piece (MB) (4 to 16 suits most hosts; the server's limits cap it by themselves) and Pieces sent at once (3 is good; a small server may prefer 2).
The other cards: The blog (Blog on, Who may write), Announcement (a notice on every page), Maintenance and Close the site (everybody but an administrator gets a short "back shortly" page; signing in still works), Verification & monetization requests (see Studio) and Importing a whole YouTube channel (see Upload).
Downloads
- Let people download and Who may keep a copy: only members whose package allows it, any signed-in member, or everybody.
- Add the site to the file name: a copy is saved as
Video title - Your site.mp4; What is added changes those words. - The guard: Guard the video files, The strict look, Tie a ticket to the address too, Guard files kept elsewhere as well, A ticket lasts (minutes), Connections one ticket may hold, Programs to refuse. See Watch page.
- Choose the quality by itself: the player picks the first quality from the screen and the connection.
- Give every video a short address such as
/s/7fQ, optionally on A small domain of your own pointed at the same folder.
SEO & sitemap
Addresses decides how links are written:
| Choice | For |
|---|---|
| AIO Video addresses | A site that never ran on PlayTube: /watch/<id>/<title>, /s/<code>, /category/<name> |
| AIO Video addresses, and old PlayTube links are sent on | Old PlayTube links get a permanent (301) redirect to the new address |
| Keep PlayTube's addresses | Every link stays exactly as it was on PlayTube; new pages get the same shape |
The site's old domain(s), one a line: a visitor arriving on an old domain parked on this site is sent to the same address here. A "Liked videos" tab on channels adds PlayTube's tab of that name.
Sitemap: Make a sitemap, and Serve the files the cron job writes (written once a day; a file older than two days is never served). The address is /sitemap.xml: give it to Google Search Console. Generate now writes it at once, after a big import for example.
Also here: After every page title, Ask search engines to stay away (for an unfinished site), verification codes for Google, Bing, Yandex and Pinterest, extra code for the head, and the text of robots.txt, whose sitemap line is added by itself.
Speed & security
- Temporary cache: Clear the cache now empties the scraps in
cache/, PHP's compiled-code cache and, when connected, Cloudflare's copy. Videos and the sitemap are never touched. The broom at the top of every panel page does the same. - Who sends the video files: with the guard on, PHP sends every video and stays busy for each viewer. Find out and switch on tries LiteSpeed, Apache (mod_xsendfile) and nginx with a small test file and only switches on a way that really delivered it. Switch off hands the work back to PHP.
- Cloudflare: This site is behind Cloudflare, API token, Zone ID, Empty Cloudflare too when the cache is cleared, Other proxies to believe, and the buttons Test the connection, Purge everything on Cloudflare and Development mode on (3 hours) / off.
- Robot check on the forms: Cloudflare Turnstile, Google reCAPTCHA v2 or hCaptcha, with its Site key and Secret key, switched on for Creating an account, Signing in, The contact form and Support tickets from guests.
- HTTPS and the address: Always use HTTPS (it only switches on while you use the panel over https://), www or not, HSTS, Safety headers.
- Speed: gzip, Let browsers keep pictures, styles and scripts (a block in
.htaccess), CDN address for the static files and Pictures too. - Visitor counting: Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, Facebook (Meta) Pixel, Microsoft Clarity, and a Cookie note.
Method: the server's own mail(), or SMTP, which lands in the inbox far more often. Fill From address and From name; for SMTP also Server, Port, User name, Password and Security (STARTTLS on 587, SSL on 465). Send a test shows at once whether it works.
Messages the site sends lists every template: welcome, e-mail confirmation, a video live or refused, comment replies, support tickets, contact replies, withdrawals, two-step codes, memberships, requests and private messages. Edit opens one: its subject, Send this message (off keeps the site quiet about it) and the text. Words in braces, such as {name}, {site_name} and {link}, are filled in when it is sent. Put back as it was, Send yourself a copy and a preview sit on the same page.
Support
The help desk: Tickets on (members write at /support), Guests may write too, Allow attachments, Largest attachment (MB), Open tickets one member may have, and the Departments. Tickets are answered under Admin → Support.
The Contact page at /contact: Contact page on (it also puts Contact in the menu), Ask visitors a small sum, E-mail me every message, Messages go to, the subjects, a line at the top, an address and a phone. Keeping spam out: the seconds before the form may be sent, messages per address in an hour, links allowed, and a block list (an address, a network ending in a dot, an e-mail, or @domain). Messages are answered under Admin → Contact; the answer goes out by e-mail.
Media and Your code
Media serves files missing on this server from an Origin address, for a site whose files still live elsewhere after a move. FFmpeg and the file server are under Admin → Media & FFmpeg (Conversion). Your code adds CSS and tags to every public page, never to the panel.
