PlayTube Migration moves a whole PlayTube site into AIO Video: members and channels, videos with every converted size, comments, likes, subscriptions, playlists, watch history, views day by day, articles, pages, pro packages and wallet balances. It is for owners who run PlayTube today and want to change over without losing members, content or the links people already have.

The old site is only read, never changed, and keeps running while you move. A move can be run again at any time: what came across is brought up to date, never doubled.

Switching it on

PlayTube Migration is a free plugin and works with every licence. Switch it on at Admin → Plugins. When you choose Move my PlayTube site here as the Starting point in the installer, it is switched on for you (Installation).

The admin menu then shows a PlayTube Migration group under Plugins: PlayTube Migration (the move itself, admin/plugin.php?code=playtube-migration), Addresses, What came across, History and Guide.

Two ways to move

• While installing - choose Move my PlayTube site here. When the installation is done you are signed in, the old site is checked, and a full move starts after a 12-second countdown (Wait, let me look first stops it).
• Afterwards - open PlayTube Migration, point it at the old site, read what it found, then take everything or tick what you want. Good for moving in parts, or fetching what was added to the old site since.

The move, screen by screen

1. The old site

Choose how to reach PlayTube's database:

• On this server - PlayTube's config.php is read (not run) for the database details. If it is not found by itself, give its folder under PlayTube is in another folder and press Look there.
• Its database - type the Database host, Port, Database name, Database user and Password from PlayTube's config.php. From another server, the old host must let this one in (cPanel → Remote MySQL).
• A backup file - upload the .sql, .sql.gz, or a .zip with the .sql inside. It goes up in pieces, so size does not matter. A big backup is quicker by FTP: put it into uploads/playtube/ and reload the page. Backups are kept under a name nobody can guess, in a folder closed to the web.

Fill in The old site's address when the domain changes; files missing here are fetched from there.

Then answer Where are its files? PlayTube keeps every video and picture in its upload folder, and AIO Video plays them from a folder of the same name inside its own:

• I will put the folder here myself - copy upload into the site's folder by FTP or the file manager. Best for a large site. When PlayTube is on this server, Move it here now does it in a moment.
• Upload a zip of it - for a small site.
• Leave the files on the old site - videos and pictures play from the old address, which has to stay online.

Press Check the old site. Nothing is moved yet.

2. Check and choose

What was found counts members and videos, says whether the domain changes, and warns about shared e-mail addresses, videos of deleted members, and missing video files.

What to move: Everything - a full move, or Let me choose and tick steps, each with its row count and a time estimate. Besides members, videos and what people did, there are steps for pages, packages, wallets, From other plugins (for example Advertising when Advertising & Monetization is on), Copy the pictures onto this server, Check every video file and Recount and tidy. Views, day by day is the longest step on a big site; untick it the first time if you are in a hurry.

Choose the Addresses style (below) and A few choices:

• A PlayTube member keeps their username - if an empty account here (the installer's, say) has the same name, that account is renamed.
• Carry on when this page is closed - the cron job carries the move on (Scheduled jobs).
• Videos of members who no longer exist go to - an @username; empty means the first administrator.

Press Start the move.

3. The move

The screen shows the percentage, Time so far, Time left, Speed now, Rows looked at, New here and Need a look, each step, and a live log. Pause, Resume and Stop (which keeps what came across) are at the top. A timeout loses nothing: the move goes on from the last row written.

While a background move runs, Admin → Cron jobs lists a job called PlayTube move, and a paused move is announced in the admin bell.

4. Afterwards

The move is finished offers Open the site, History and "Put it back" and Move again, and a to-do list: try an old link, send the old domain here, read the issues list, set the cron line, remove the uploaded backup.

Addresses

A video keeps PlayTube's id, short code and playlist ids; a member keeps their username. Three styles (also on Admin → Settings → SEO & sitemap):

The Addresses page also has The site's old domain(s) (visitors arriving on one are sent to the same address here), A "Liked videos" tab on channels, a Try an old link box, and how to park or redirect the old domain. If your .htaccess is an older one, an Add the rule button appears. On nginx add:

History and What came across

History lists every move. Details shows each step and What needs a look: videos whose file was not found and members who needed a changed name, each with a link to put it right. Put this move back removes only what that move added from PlayTube. Below are Remove them for the uploaded backup (it holds every member's e-mail) and Put them away, which moves PlayTube's old script files into a closed folder; upload/ is never touched.

What came across lists everything from PlayTube kind by kind, with search, Delete the ticked ones, Delete all, and Delete everything that came from PlayTube. These deletes cannot be undone.

Good to know

• Passwords keep working: members sign in with the same name or e-mail and password. PlayTube's administrators are administrators here.
• Not moved: private messages, notifications, old payment records, and PlayTube's own API and mobile apps.
• Shorts, movies and points come across through the Shorts, Movies & Series and Point System plugins; switch those on before the move.
• Moved advertisements arrive paused, for you to look over.
• The Guide page has step-by-step recipes for the same domain and a new one.
