The admin panel and first steps
On this page
Where everything is, and what to set first.
Signing in
Open /admin/ on your site. If you are not signed in, the sign-in page opens: enter your e-mail or username and password. Administrators, editors and authors land in the admin panel; members land in their own account area.
The admin panel is always in English. The top bar holds View the site, a light/dark switch, and the menu under your picture with My profile and Sign out.
The Dashboard
Admin → Dashboard greets you and shows how the site is doing, with two buttons: Write a post and View site.
- Four cards at the top: the money donated (and how many donations), blog views and published posts, members and bookmarks, and how many translations and reciters are switched on.
- Waiting for you — a line that appears when comments wait for approval, donations wait to be confirmed or new messages have arrived. Each one is a link.
- Donations — last 14 days (a small chart), Latest donations and Latest comments.
- On the right: the Licence card, the Scheduled jobs card (green ok when the cron job runs), Most read posts, and Quick links (arrange the home page, logo and menus, add a translation, upload recitations, SEO and sitemap, plugins).
The admin menu
| Group | What is in it |
|---|---|
| Overview | Dashboard |
| Quran | Surahs, Translations, Tafsir, Reciters, Audio upload |
| Content | Blog posts, Categories, Comments, Pages, Learning, Media library, Messages, Notices |
| Donations | Donations, Causes, Payment methods |
| Plugins | One entry for each switched-on plugin that has its own pages, such as Hadith, Ruqyah, Du‘as or Social Auto Post |
| Appearance | Header & menus, Footer, Home page, Themes, Fonts |
| System | Settings, Users, Plugins, Scheduled jobs, License |
Counters beside Comments, Donations and Messages show what waits. Each role sees only its own part of the menu.
Settings has eleven tabs, and each tab saves on its own: General, Permalinks, Quran reading, Prayer times, SEO & Sitemap, E-mail, Contact & spam, Comments, Share images, Media studio and Advanced. They are described in Settings.
The first ten things to set
- Settings → General — the site name, the tagline in Bengali and English, the site e-mail, Send notices to (where new comments, donations and contact messages are reported), the main language, the colour mode and the time zone.
- Appearance → Header & menus — your logo (a second one for dark mode if you like), the site icon, the app icon and the menus.
- Appearance → Footer — the columns, the copyright line and your social links.
- Appearance → Home page — put the sections in order, switch off what you do not need.
- Settings → Prayer times — your city (the default place), the calculation method and the Asr method. See Prayer times and the mosque screen.
- Settings → E-mail — choose SMTP if the server's own mail lands in spam, save, then press Send test e-mail.
- Settings → Contact & spam — your address, phone, WhatsApp number and map for the contact page. See Blog, pages, comments and messages.
- Settings → SEO & Sitemap — the home page title and description, the share picture, Google Analytics and Search Console, then Generate now for the sitemap.
- Donations → Payment methods and Causes — how people can give, and to what. See Donations.
- System → Scheduled jobs — copy the cron line into cPanel and check that the state turns green. See Scheduled jobs.
One more that is worth it on day one: Plugins → Hadith → Import → Import every book brings in Bukhari, Muslim and the other hadith books. See Hadith books.
Users and roles
System → Users lists every account, with tabs for each role, a Waiting tab when accounts need approval, and a search by name, e-mail or phone.
| Role | What it may do |
|---|---|
| Administrator | Everything. |
| Editor | All content: the Quran texts, every blog post, categories, comments, pages, learning, the media library, messages and donations. Not Appearance or System. |
| Author | Their own blog posts and the media library. |
| Member | No admin panel; their own account area on the site. |
- Add a user — name, e-mail, phone, password, role and status (Active, Waiting for approval, Blocked). Tick E-mail the sign-in details to a new account to send them their details.
- Edit — change any of these. Leave the password empty to keep the old one.
- Approve, Block and Unblock — a blocked person is signed out at once.
- Delete — their blog posts become yours; their donations and comments are kept.
You cannot block, delete or demote yourself, and the last active administrator always stays an administrator. Whether visitors may create accounts, and whether new accounts wait for approval, is set under Settings → General → Members.
The member account area
Every member has their own area at /account, also reached from the menu under their picture in the header:
| Section | Address | What it holds |
|---|---|---|
| Overview | /account | Counts of bookmarks, lessons finished, money donated and comments; Continue reading at the ayah where they stopped; recent bookmarks. |
| Bookmarks & notes | /account/bookmarks | Every bookmarked ayah, with a note of their own on each. |
| My learning | /account/learning | The courses and which lessons they have finished. |
| Mosque screen | /account/screen | Their own settings for the prayer times screen. |
| My donations | /account/donations | Everything they gave, with its status and a receipt. |
| My comments | /account/comments | What they wrote under blog posts. |
| Profile | /account/profile | Picture, name, e-mail, phone, language and a few words about themselves. |
| Password | /account/password | Change the password. |
Members keep bookmarks with the Bookmark button on any ayah; where they stopped reading is remembered by itself.
